Huila Farm Guidelines

Farm Safety

We utilize the Common Sense Approach on our farm. We are delighted for you to explore and enjoy the farm during pickup times, but we need for your time on the farm to be safe and orderly. Though the farm may seem the picture of tranquility, there are many real hazards in all areas of the farm. We do our best to create a safe environment and we invite your suggestions on how we can improve the farm for everyone’s safety, but you must take responsibility for your own and your children’s wellbeing. Please make sure your children are supervised at all times. If you bring dogs they must be leashed and supervised at all times.

Driving

Please use extreme caution while driving your vehicle in and out of the farm. Chickens come and go constantly so please look twice before you step on the pedal!

Parking

Our parking spots can get quite full at times during community events. Please do not park in undesignated areas or outside of designated parking spots and please follow our one-way traffic pattern. Please do not park and leave your vehicle to explore Volcano Village. Please contact us should you have any additional parking questions. We are not responsible for any damages to your vehicle during your visit.

Boundaries

You are welcome to visit the farm but do not go beyond areas marked with authorized personnel signs. Please use caution and always watch your children and our dogs around the farm.

Dogs

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the farm, but must be on a leash. Please be sure to clean up after your dog. Dogs who are disruptive or unable to follow these guidelines will be asked to remain at home. We will not be responsible for any damages resulting from dogs brought on the farm.

Chickens

You will often see our chickens grazing throughout the farm so please use caution while driving through the farm. Although they are generally gentle and quiet, they can be hazardous. Please ask first before approaching them and beware that if harassed they may rapidly fly off or a rooster could suddenly charge. Please do not feed the chickens.

Rubbish

Please do not leave anything, especially rubbish. Pack it in pack it out; we are not your trash collectors.

Weather

Please be aware that winds are a real hazard as we have many Ohia with older branches. If you are out around the grounds and winds pick up, please remain aware of overhead hazards such as Ohia branches. Be prepared to cut your visit short if weather conditions worsen and we have to close down the farm. The Volcano Village climate fluctuates and can cool down rapidly in the afternoon hours so plan accordingly for you visit and have layers of clothing at the ready.
